Lord of War

BUY
This is a good movie starring Nicholas Cage as a weapons dealer. I especially liked the first person narration of his life story. People are always curious what people do in other professions, and this is indeed an interesting one. It is almost a documentary of a job profession but the fiction makes it interesting.

The Longest NIte

BUY

A good movie with a complex plot and plenty of twists and turns. You will need to pay attention if you want to understand what is happening. Tony Leung and Lau Ching Wan were great. They were realistic members of the underground who had to fight to the death.

Corpse Bride

RENT
Some great animations. The characters were fresh and lively. Totally different from a cartoon animation. Besides that, the story was okay. Eye candy more than anything.

Serenity

RENT

A good story with plenty of character development. However, nothing out of the ordinary. Basically, you have a crew defend a helpless psychic who is suppose to be a secret weapon. There were no great fight scenes, no lasting relationships, and no spectacular anything.

Dirty Love

BUY

This movie is funny. Jenny McCarthy isn't exactly an actress but she is really funny in this film. It helps that she also wrote a great script. Some scenes are so taboo that shown on cinema makes for some great laughter. Her forced strip search scene in police custody is hilarious. Carmen Electra as a white girl who acts black is some great acting.

Wedding Crashers

BUY

This film was super funny. Every scene you will go out laughing. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn make a great pair and these friends connect like magic. There conversations are funny and there actions are funny. A very good romantic comedy with eye candy for the men also. Even some of the less important characters are very nicely created.

A Very Long Engagement

DUMP

This film was so horrible. I couldn't even finish watching half of it. First, I didn't know it was a French film. I have no problems with foreign films, but I have big problems when the foreign film has no point. It was about a woman who was waiting for her love to return from the war. Who cares? Why make a movie about this? Why make a movie of a woman who waits and searches for a man who deserted his army in the war? He was not a significant figure. She was not a significant figure. Thousands of men died in the war. What makes this one special that merits a story?

40 Year Old Virgin

BUY

Even though there isn't much new material, this film is really funny. The dialogue is great and there's some very humorus conversations. There's even a great collection of extras to watch on the dvd. It's hard to put together extras that are interesting to watch. Most of the time I just skim through most of them.

The Man

RENT

Eugene Levy is very funny with his constant running mouth. He provides for some great laughs with his stupidity. There's not much of a story and Samual Jackson is really terrible in comedies. He should stick to dramas.

Into the Blue

RENT

Surprisingly, not just another lame movie to see Jessica Alba. This film has some substance. Honestly, not a whole lot, but there is enough treasure hunting and beautiful scenes underwater to keep you entertained. It's incredible how many scenes are shot in the bottom of the ocean.
