Mariah Carey: Fantasy

The concert was poorly recorded but Mariah has an incredible voice. Sometimes she should use less vibrato, but I guess that was what made her a superstar. The stage was also poorly designed, but her focus was on the music.

There was a guest appearance by Boy II Me singing One Sweet Day. Overall, a short concert that was mediocre.

The Hitchhiker Guide

RENT
A weird but interesting movie. The film starts off in a very weird way, but it gets more logical. If you always wonder the origin of Earth and things in general, this one will explain it all. You might not understand most of the explanations but an answer to life questions are provided.

Marvin, the robot with the manic depressive personality is laughingly funny and the weird theme song is surprisingly very catchy.

Crash

This is a good film to watch. Lots of famous celebrities such as Don Cheadle, Terrence Howard, Sandra Bullock, Brandan Fraser, Jennifer Esposito, and Matt Dillon. With so much popular faces, you know this will be a production with a great story.

The movie tackles racism and prejudices. It exposes all the evil that everyone is afraid to look at and face. The characters all start out as strangers to each other but all somehow collide and affect each other's lives. A inspirational and brilliant piece.

Destiny Child's World Tour

A very boring concert. Destiny Child had some great music videos but their concert was horrible. The audience was loud and you could hardly hear the singing. Also, many of the songs were remixed and quite frankly, they suck. Also, it looked like Beyonce gained like 30 pounds. Jayz, stop feeding the girl.

Twin Effects II

Everytime you watch a movie from Twins, you expect a teen style movie and this film adds to the list. All the actions look like a joke. The battle between good and evil is so silly that you never feel that anything was at stake.

Jackie Chan's son is the soon to be king of the realm and he looks nothing like the part. What happened to all the muscle power that his Dad had? This kid will unfortunately amount to nothing. Yet another person in film who has a famous Dad.

Naked Weapon

BUY
This film is hot. Maggie Q and Anya are trained assassins who can kill with the blink of an eye. Lots of action and lots of teasing.

The story is a simple one. Young girls are kidnapped at a young age and trained to be killing machines. Can you imagine spending six years in an isolated island with 20 friends and having to kill them all to survive?

The Wedding Date

DUMP
Worthless movie. It's a total waste of time. Debra Messing was good in some scenes but mostly boring. A story about a woman who goes to her sister's wedding and hires a male escort to be her date. Good idea for a romantic comedy but it didn't work.

Monster in Law

DUMP
The only reason to see this flick is for Jennifer Lopez. The movie was not especially dramatic, funny, or interesting to watch. The chemistry between Lopez and the male lead was clearly nonexistent.

Maid of Manhattan was a much better movie.

Five People You Meet in Heaven

RENT
Even though there were no famous faces, this is a meaningful movie. It shows that everything in life is connected. Everything you do will affect someone and will have some sort of relevance. If you are down and don't know what you are doing with your life, watch this film. It will give you hope and inspiration.

Next time, you do a bad thing, think of the consequences because in your next life, you will have to answer to it.

The Last Don

This film is comparable to GodFather. There were no famous faces in this mob story, but it was an awesome mini series. Throughout the story, you are kept in suspense and the characters are so real. Even though it was more than four hours, you are still interested in watching till the end. I recommend this film.

Mario Puzio does not disappoint.

JLo: Reel Me

Jennifer Lopez is fabulous in her music videos. This set comes with a commentary before every song and she looks amazing. Not only does she look incredibilty sexy, but she has a great voice and acting ability. Looking at her cheers you up. She is upbeat and always smiling.

This is a collector's item. The set also comes with a CD of songs.

Madonna:Drowned World Tour

The first part of the concert is a mix of punk rock and japanese anime. Really weird, but you come to expect this from Madonna. I enjoyed the second part more because she was more normalized. She sang some of her old songs. Overall, a very long concert. If you don't enjoy her, pass on this one.

Ice Princess

Surprisingly, not a bad movie. A story of a young girl's dream to become a competitive ice skater. Her whole life was focused on studying physics until one of her science projects led her to the sport of ice skating.

A great inspiration for young teens pursuing their dreams.

Manchurian Candidate

DUMP
If you like conspiracy theories and stories of politics, this is the film for you. Not so much for me because I forgot I watched the movie on cable and rented it. That's how good it was for me. I didn't even bother to look at the special features.

A dark and gloomy movie with flashbacks of war.

MTV Cribs: Rock

DUMP
Not much to see. The best house was by Rob Zombie where he created a place with creatures from horror movies. The rest of the places looked like your typical American house, not a rock star house.

Sin City

BUY
If you want to see this movie for Jessica Alba, pass on this one. She is in very few scenes and all the scenes are dark. When she appears at the end of the movie, you can hardly see her in the nightclub and dark alleyways.

What you will see in this movie is blood and gore splattered everywhere. The director does not hold back in any visual effects. When you see all the limbs torn off, you will be shocked. You will not believe that they actually captured all the gruesome kills on film. If most of the movie wasn't in black and white, you will probably have people fainting from all the blood.

Look at Michael Rourke's character. He is beaten to a pulp and covered in bandages. And he survives. What an amazing character.

Coach Carter

BUY
An inspirational basketball film with some nice game shots. Samuel Jackson is the new coach in town and his job is to whip the boys in shape, in athletics and academics. Based on a true story, this is a good sports film to watch, especially if you love the sport.

JLo - let's Get Loud

BUY
This is Jennifer Lopez's first concert in Puerto Rico, her hometown. Even though she is singing abroad, she keeps the Spanish songs at a limit. She has a good selection of dance songs and slow songs.

However, she didnt sing much because she spent most of the time changing into different outfits. The introductions of the dancers, musicians, and backup dancers also took up time.

Marc Anthony - The Concert

BUY
If you don't understand Spanish, I don't recommend this DVD. There is only a handful of English songs and it's not worth sitting there for 2 hours.

He has a couple of great songs but his performance becomes monotonous after awhile. Marc doesn't speak much to the audience and his dancing is limited.

Alfie

RENT
Filmed in the first person perspective, you will see alot of Alfie. He will speak to you throughout the movie. If you don't like watching Jude Law, don't watch this one.

Jude is interesting and keeps the audience in suspense. You always wonder what he will do next in his great adventures. A good film to just slouch around and watch all the beautiful people on the big screen. Along with Jude, you will see Sienna Miller, Susan Sarandon, and Marisa Tomei.

There is a great selection of music and takes place in the city of New York. Not as good as his other film, Closer, but well worth your time to watch this remake of Alfie.

Kung Fu Hustle

Stephen Chow is incredible in this feature. He is the producer, director, writer, and actor of this film. Who does all that and still does an amazing job? Only Stephen. Don't think that he is new to the big screen. He has starred in over 30 successful films in Hong Kong and some of them have been making it to America, such as Shaolin Soccer.

This film is very funny and the fighting scenes are exciting to watch. That is hard to find. If you watch movies from Jackie Chan, the action scenes are repetitive and boring. In fact, I try to stay away from Jackie's films for that reason.

Stephen's characters are realistic and each has its own unique personality. No famous people were casted, but each person was perfect for the role. Don't miss this movie. You won't stop laughing.

XXX: State of Union

DUMP
Lots of big guns and explosions, but XXX sux. Usually, a movie like this will be awesome but Ice Cube was horrible. This isnt a gangster movie, so I don't understand why he is all ghetto. There is no need to blast rap music and act all tough.

Vin Disel is a tough guy but he was cool in the first XXX. The key is to hold back and leave something to the imagination. We don't want to see a bad ass XXX. However, we want to believe he can be a bad ass if he wanted to be one.

Even Samual Jackson couldn't save this one.

Melinda and Melinda

DUMP
Boring and confusing. A story about a woman named Melinda who is looking for love. It is not until the end that you realize that there are two alternate stories for Melinda. It would have been better if the story just focused on Wil Ferrell and her.

Lots of talk, talk and talk. There's nothing unique about the film. It looks like a low budget tv sitcom.

Aviator

BUY
The movie is nothing spectacular, but Leonardio Decaprio was awesome. He has really gone a long way since Titanic. If Martin Sorcese picked him to be Howard Hughes, it means something. Leo has finally grown up.

Leo's performance was realistic and captivating as he takes you into the life of the great aviator. You get to see it all.

You watch as he makes the fastest and largest planes. You watch as he dates the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood. You watch as he becomes the richest man in the world.

And through it all, the magnificent creator is still flawed. God is fair. You can never have it all. If you look at the greatest people on this earth, they always have some flaw, whether it be physical or mental.

Alexander

DUMP
Colin Farrell was weak. He is nothing compared to Mel Gibson in Braveheart or Brat Pitt in Troy. I cannot believe he was cast for this movie.

Alexander is a great story of a conqueror who takes over many tribes and land. Unfortunately, Colin was awful. He looked nothing like a warrior or king. His war speeches were not inspirational and drawn out.

Even though there were blood spilled everywhere, the fight scenes were dull. Even Angeline Jolie was horrible in this film.

Throughout the film, you wish that Alexander will die. Why can't a arrow shoot him in the heart?

Britney Spears - My Prerogrative

The menu screen is poorly designed. It is difficult to navigate to the alternate views and to the extras at the bottom of the screen. However, the song selection menu is nice which plays back the highlighted song in the film window.

There is a good variety of music videos from Britney's early days to current days. Also, the alt view menu allows you to see a different perspective of each video. For example, there is a karaoke version of a video, different angles of a video, hidden footage of a video, and bloopers of a video. Not particularly exciting, unless you a big fan of Britney.

If you want to own one of Britney's dvds on music videos, this is the one.

Babyboy

RENT
If you didnt get enough of Boys in the Hood, catch Tyrese growing up in the hood. He is a boy learning to become a man in the tough side of the city. Like others, he aspires to makes something out of himself, but he is faced with many challenges.

He has to watch his back, so he doesn't get killed. He has to juggle sleeping with different women. He has to take care of two kids. He has to make some money.

A good story but Tyrese can't act for his life. He should go back to modeling. This role should have went to Terrence Howard from Hustle and Flow.

Star Wars III

RENT
A slow start with cheezy lines. Luckily, the second half of the movie is much better. When Dark Vader appears, good clashes with evil and there are fights everywhere. If you watched later episodes of Star Wars, you will realize that the stage has been set for the future ahead. Many of the characters from the original Star Wars appear and it brings you back to the past.

If you are a fan of Star Wars, you cannot miss this episode. Otherwise, it just another Star Wars movie. The only thing that looked nice was the Emperor's dark powers. After you see episodes and episodes of saber flinging, it's not all that.

Hustle and Flow

It starts off really slow but picks up. At first, all the street lingo is hard to understand. You see all these characters, and it looks like a low budget movie produced in the hood. What's the point of watching this man pimping his hookers and selling drugs?

Well, it turns out this man is Terrence Howard. He is caught up in this rough and tough life, and he wants out. He thinks he got what it takes to be a rapper and starts out on his dream. His performance as the musical pimp is realistic and heartfelt. He has the making of a great star and could be the next Denzel Washington of Hollywood.

A great actor makes the movie good. And that is what Terrence does in this movie.

Fantastic Four

There are many bad reviews on this movie, but I thought it was a good superhero movie. There was plenty of action, lots of drama, and great effects. What is better than having 4 superheroes in one movie?

If you are fans of Jessica Alba, you will also love this movie. Plenty of shots of her. If you saw Nip and Tuck, you will also enjoy watching the villain Doctor Doom. He makes a terrific bad guy. His present protrays power and destruction.

There are some cheezy lines, but this is not a contender for the Oscars anyways. The important thing was that it was entertaining. There was some laughs, some romance, and lots of superhero asskicking.
