Amazingly, this turned out to be a real good movie. It really immersed you into the underground world of Shanghai. The visuals and music helps to put you into this world of evil. It would have been even better if they took some time to develop the characters and events. Things were happening at a fast pace and the next thing you know, the village boy was the boss of whole Shanghai. That was just too unbelievable.

310 to Yuma

RENT
I never watch westerns because they seem dull, but this one was different. Maybe, it's because it's a modern version of westerns. Russell Crowe was great as the villian who has a good heart. If you don't like cowboy story, watch this one and it might change your mind. There's some good gun slinging action and a good story to keep you in suspense.

Brothers

This has a good story, and it's refreshing to see some of the great actors from the past, named the "Four Tigers". It is suspenseful and has the flavor of the greats such as Infernal Affairs. I'm glad there' something good that came out of the HK film industry.

Good Luck Chuck

I'm surprised an A list actress like Jessica Alba is in this crazy role where she is all awkward and silly. For that, I give her props. There's not many people who are famous and will make a fool out of themselves. I'm also surprised that Jessica is in a film with tons of nudity. I guess they need nudity to attract people to romantic comedies.

The HeartBreak Kid

There's some funny scenes. Ben Stiller is still funny, but his tricks are getting old. My DVD rental was scratched up and I had to watch part of it on the PC, but it was still enjoyable.

Bourne Ultimatium

If you have been following this trilogy, this is nothing special for you. This is the final chapter and Bourne will finally find out where he came from and how he lost all his memory. I'm glad this is the end of Bourne, or is it?

Shoot Em Up

It's not much of a movie. Tons of shooting everywhere. You must see a hundred different guns used in this film. If you like to see nonstop action, this is the one for you, but don't expect anything more. The environment feels alot like Sin City, where bad guys are hanging at every corner.

War

Some confusion in all the betrayals in the story, but you will see alot of action. If you came to watch some action, you will definitely get it. You will get gun battles, sword fights, car chases, and big explosions.

Rush Hour 3

RENT
It feels old and uninteresting. You will feel like you seen this before and it isn't funny the third time around. All the chemistry between Chris Rock and Jackie Chan is old and corny. The dialogue is really horrible and I wouldn't even recommend seeing this if you weren't following the series.

Balls of Fury

This was a disappointment. I was expecting laughters like Blades of Glory, but this one isn't funny. In fact, it feels like a spoof or a low budget production. It feels like you went into a two dollar video store and picked up a old kung fu movie. That's not good. And I'm a fan of table tennis, and this wasn't good.

The Kingdom

This film takes you into the world of Saudi Arabia. Everything is so realistic that it is definitely something you want to experience. It feels more like a documentary than a war film, so don't expect any great stories with the main characters.

License to Wed

I saw Robin Williams and I thought this had to be funny. I was wrong. There is no chemistry between Mandy Moore and this guy, and the jokes just were not funny. I expected more from this film, so I was kind of disappointed. The movie was advertised everywhere but I guess this one was way overrated.

American Pie Beta House

Nothing special here. Even though there are women running around everywhere, this series has lost its edge, finally. How many more American Pie copycats can be done? I think we have seen the last of the apple pie reruns.

POC: At World's End

This is a three hour film that isn't too interesting to watch. We are tired of pirates and they should have stopped at the sequel. Even though this isn't anything great, there's nice scenery and music to make it worth seeing, especially if you have been following the story since part one.

Love at First Note

If you want to just listen to songs, this isn't all bad. There's not really a good story, so don't expect anything more from this teen romantic drama.

I Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

This was funny but could have been even funnier. I expected more from it because of Adam Sandler and Kevin James being great body comedians. Jessica Biel was also in it but she's more of a sex symbol than a comedian. A great casual film for the evening that will still give you some laughs and cheer you up.

Live Free or Die Hard

RENT
Bruce Willis doesn't disappoint. Never much of a story, but lots of explosions and action. That's what the audience really wants anyways from the Die Hard series. This time it makes it more interesting with it being related to technology and how it can put the world at its knees. You'll also get to see Maggie Q as the evil assistant here.

Home of the Brave

DUMP
Not much of a story. It's kind of a waste of Samuel Jackson's talent. Definitely could have been better. An emotional story of soldiers who come back from a war who has lost touch with reality. A nice concept for a film, but the incidents of war were not dramatic enough to be touching. If you want to catch 50 cents in another movie, this could be a casual watch.

Mr. Brooks

BUY
A well put together story. All the pieces fall in place at the end. This is a perfect thriller, leaving you at the edge of your seat. You can't somehow feel not to root for the serial killer. He's so good at what he does that you almost don't want him to be caught. If you liked the tv sitcom, Dexter, you will love Kevin Costner as Mr. Brooks. All the characters were created for a cause and that's a great film.

Ocean 13

BUY
This is a well put together story. The best scam of all time. You will be sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen next. It also helps that most of the cast are A list celebrities. If you love Brad Pitt and George Clooney, they come back here for another installation. This time you will also get Al Pacino as the villian. Now that's marvelous. It kind of reminds you of a subdued version of Scarface.

Reign Over Me

I was abit disappointed by this film. I had higher expectations for it and I thought that they could have done even better with it. Cheadle and Sandler could have brought it in more. It was a touching film but it just wasn't there yet. It kind of drops off at the end.

My Mother is a Belly Dancer

This is a horrible show. It was boring, boring, and boring. There was no point to it and everything moved so slow. Whoever directed this film should lose their license. The movie was just a waste of time, looking at objects that hardly move.

A Mighty Heart

If you want to see the inside story of Daniel Pearl, this is a good watch. It's a touching story of a reporter who wandered into enemy lands and is kidnapped by Al Qaida. If the US don't meet their demands, he will be executed. It is his wife's struggle that keeps him from drifting off into just memories and to keep his search alive.

Transformers

This movie definitely exceeded my expectation. I grew up watching the cartoon version, and this version of the movie was way cool. The robots were realistic and you will be blown away by their size and appearance. Megatron vs Optimus Prime. How can you miss their battle?

We Are Family

DUMP
This was a horrible movie, especially disappointing since Hacken and Alan are the lead actors. It seem like they were imitiating the movie Meet the Parents, but they did a horrible job. It really wasn't funny and there was no story.

The Good German

What a waste of talent! George Clooney, Toby Maguire, and Cate Blanchett, but you get nothing good. What makes it worst is that it's in black and white. Some people might like the old flavor of film but I see boredom in it. Give me some more of Ocean 13 anytime. You watch the whole film and wonder what's the big secret behind the character of Cate, and it's total crap.

Rise of the Silver Surfer

The Silver Surfer is cool. That's the only reason to see it. Going to see it for the Fantastic Four, Jessica Alba, or Doctor Doom might not even do it. If you like Superman 3 with all the villians, you will like this one.

Letters from Iwo Jima

This film was better than its predecessor, Flag of the Fathers. This is sad because this one was in Japanese with subtitles. If you want to see the other side of World War II and how war is just war, this is a good watch.

The Contract

DUMP
This one is a disappointment because there were great actors such as Morgan Freeman and John Cusack. It was just a boring story. There wasn't even a good bond established with the characters. An assassin got stuck in the forest with a civilian. You would think something interesting would come out of that plot.

The Holiday

A cast full of famous people don't disappoint. You have Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black. What more do you want? Superb acting and an original story will keep you interested. Quite a long film, so get ready for some romantic comedy.
